Oil Leak behind oil pan
Hey Jeepers,
I have an 07jk and I have noticed a oil leak right behind my oil pan. In addition I noticed

a bit of oil on not all but most of my oil pan bolts. I figured the seal was old but the leak to the rear of the pan has the trans cover covering it up so I can not get a birds eye view. Any help out there or advice?

Look for the source by tracing the residue to its highest point. Don't assume it's the rear main seal if there is oil higher than that.
I once thought my rear main seal was leaking. A close inspection revealed it was coming from the timing chain cover, and migrating to the back of the engine. I verified the source by cleaning off all the residue and looking things over every day or so. It was obvious where it was coming from.
